The abbreviation DISCC stands for
Deva International Society for Child Care.
What is DISCC ?
Deva International Society for Child Care was established in the Hindu holy city of Varanasi in 1991.DISCC has a status of a registered voluntary, humanitarian Non Governmental Organisation (N.G.O.)
The society has sole purpose of helping children’s Social, Psychological, Educational and Medical needs, without any geographical boundaries, political motives, religious or ethnic limitations.
In 1991 Dr Tulsi created a centre of rehabilitation and training for mentally handicapped children and consultation for their families. He was the first in Uttar Pradesh to do so.
From that time 7 Projects till today have been realised to challenge the needs mostly for underprivileged children and their families issued from Varanasi and rural villages around, where DEVA centre’s employees where coming from; all that with very limited resources. Nevertheless, from that time it has helped approximately 20 000 children and families belonging to economically weaker section, including Handicapped and Leprosy patients.
Those projects were created one after another to answer to the needs and requirement of DISCC staff members and their neighbouring to make a global concept for a small community of around 500 persons.
